last question for eg2 last friday paper. solution special thx to Mdm Mabel Goh (QTSS Maths HOD)
dx/dy = 0 (because max value of x)
equation is x2-xy+y2 = 3
differentiate using implicit differentiation,
2x(dx/dy) - [y(dx/dy) + x] +2y = 3(dx/dy)
sub in dx/dy = 0,
-x+2y=0
x=2y (equation 1)
sub in x=2y into x2-xy+y2=3
4y2-2y2+y2=3
3y2=3
y2=1
y=+1 or y=-1
y=-1 (NA) because ur looking for positive value coz nearest point is positive
Therfore, y=1, sub into equation 1,
x=2
Therefore, coordinates on da curve nearest to the wall(x=3) is (1,2)
well i got it wrong on da paper. but wen found out da solution. its kinda ez wasted! :(
